on 3CR (am 855) Wednesdays at 6pm, monthly.
AMIDA has general meetings every three months and attending these is one way of becoming involved.
Once you are a member, you will receive all the mail that we send to our members. This will keep you up to date with what is happening at AMIDA. You will also get a copy of our newsletter which comes out every three months, and be told about meetings that we run. If you want to have a say in our newsletter and need support, we can help you.
You can become a member of AMIDA by filling out the membership application form ( next page). New members are always welcome.
Each year AMIDA members elect a new management committee. A letter is sent to all members, calling for nominations, and advertising the Annual General Meeting. If you want to be nominated for the committee, you need to fill out a nomination form.
The job of managing AMIDA can take a lot of time and energy from the people who are on the committee. People on the management committee have to vote to decide on what happens at AMIDA. It is not a paid job and it can be hard work.
The management committee is responsible for:
You can also have a say in the management of AMIDA by joining sub-committees, campaigns, or by giving your ideas to workers and to the management committee.
For more information about the Management Committee and these other activities, contact AMIDA on 9650 2722 or e-mail at ... .
It is okay to make a complaint. If you are not satisfied with the situation, you have a right to say so.
AMIDA has a complaints procedure that ensures that you get to have your say. The complaints procedure is designed to solve your problem. If you want a copy of the procedure, you can ask any member of the staff or management committee for a copy.
AMIDA is run by its members and has rules that all members have to follow. These include things like meeting procedures, voting procedures, the way the management committee should work and how to become a member. There is a copy of our constitution or rules available for members and service users.
Cancellation of membership
The AMIDA constitution has a procedure for the management committee to expel a member from the organisation if the member conducts activities which are against the aims or interests of AMIDA.
A member can also choose to resign from the organisation if they wish to do so by telling us in writing.
